National Center for Women & Information Technology Receives Presidential Award for Excellence

On June 25, 2018, the White House announced the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) Aspirations in Computing program as one of 14 organizations to receive the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM) — the highest honor bestowed upon mentors who work to expand science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) talent.

The book has been compiled by British born Jamaican Marcia M Spence who lives in West Bromwich. Like many of her co-authors Marcia has experienced significant difficulties in life: – Marcia was sexually abused when she was five, witnessed domestic abuse at home, led a transient lifestyle and was the subject of racism as she grew up. Her personal relationships with family and partners have been troubled by their mental health issues, drug and alcohol addictions.
